Google has confirmed that official replacement parts for the Google Pixel Fold will be available online.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
He explained that he will offer \u201cgenuine replacement parts\u201d and repair instructions, including battery replacements and internal and external screens, working with device repair experts and aftermarket parts suppliers iFixit.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This is a significant milestone for users, as the Pixel Fold is the first foldable phone that you can theoretically repair yourself \u2013 if you can find one in Slovenia, of course. As always, this Pixel phone is available in a very limited supply. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
Other foldable phones, such as the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4, use traditional services for repair. Google first partnered with iFixit last year, offering replacement parts for the Google Pixel 6 and Pixel 7 series, as well as some older models. Samsung also works with iFixit, but currently doesn't sell parts for phones newer than the 2021 Galaxy S21 series, and doesn't even offer parts for any flip phone Samsung has ever made.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are currently no Pixel Fold parts available on iFixit, but that's not surprising given the fact that the phone wasn't officially released until June 28th. At the moment, it can't even be found on Amazon, let alone in any Slovenian store. We're hoping to see parts for the Pixel Fold online soon, though Google's statement didn't mention a timeframe for the parts' rollout.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The fact that you will be able to buy official replacement parts for the Pixel Fold is good news, as testers recently proved that the display of the new Pixel Fold is poorly resistant to shocks and scratches. All foldable phones are fundamentally more fragile than normal phones, but not to the extent of the Pixel Fold. Still, there would be nothing wrong if other manufacturers followed Google's example.<\/p>\n
