How do you change settings? You usually go to the section Settings<\/em>, and rarely also in antique Control panel<\/em>In one section or another, you will find all the settings for Windows, the exception being the hidden ones that require a bit more fiddling with commands or scripts. God Mode<\/em> is an option to combine all your settings into one, more transparent place, accessible right on your desktop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

By setting up this special folder God Mode<\/em> You can quickly view settings for backup, restore, color management, connected devices and printers, mouse, power options, security, maintenance, and more.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God Mode<\/em> will be mostly useless for regular users, as they rarely go into settings. However, for other, more experienced users who like to manage and change every detail of Windows 11, this feature may come in handy.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

God Mode<\/em> It's not a Windows 11 exclusive feature, it's been around since at least Windows XP, if not longer. How can you turn it on and what can you do with it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Check your profile first.<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You will need administrator privileges, which you probably already have if you are on a home computer. The exception is usually work computers. You can view your profile status in Settings \u2192 Accounts<\/em>Under the profile name, you will also see its title or privilege level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Create a new folder on your desktop<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Go to your desktop and right-click to create a new folder. Right-click on it and rename it. You can also use the F2 shortcut.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name of the new folder must be: <\/p>\n\n\n\n

GodMode.{ED7BA470-8E54-465E-825C-99712043E01C}<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Make sure you type the name exactly, otherwise the function will not work. Click Enter and you should now have a completely normal folder on your desktop. The name will be hidden, and the icon will look like a regular folder or the Control Panel.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Two clicks to God Mode<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

This new folder God Mode<\/em> You open it like any other, with two mouse clicks. A new window will open with all the available Windows 11 settings.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Settings are organized by program set Control panels<\/em>, so you can browse through different categories such as Backup and Restore, Devices and Printers, File History, Mouse, Programs and Features, Security and Maintenance, Troubleshooting, and User Accounts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

For faster searches, you can use the search bar in the upper right corner, just like in the classic To the researcher<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Once you find the setting you're looking for, you can turn it on\/open it with two mouse clicks. You can also drag it to your desktop as a shortcut if you need it more often.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Would you like to change the name and icon of the God Mode folder?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

If you followed our instructions, you now have a folder on your desktop that you cannot change the name or icon of. We can change that.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Instead of a new folder, you will create a shortcut this time. Right-click on an empty space on your desktop and create a new shortcut. In the new pop-up window, you will type:<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Continue with the process and name the new shortcut. You can now replace the existing icon with another one of your choice. Right-click on the shortcut again and select Properties<\/em> \u2192 Replace icon<\/em>You can choose from the default icons, or you can add others if you wish.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

How do you turn off God Mode?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Simply delete the folder or shortcut you created.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What can you do with God Mode?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

You can browse through over 200 different settings. Most are basic ones that you're already familiar with, while others are more niche and convenient for certain users.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

  • Manage drive encryption with the program BitLocker<\/em>, either by temporarily suspending protection, a backup copy of the program's recovery key BitLocker<\/em> or by completely disabling program protection BitLocker<\/em>.<\/li>
  • Manage network settings: connect to a new network, adjust sharing settings, view network status, etc.<\/li>
  • Manage power settings, such as adjusting battery options, changing actions taken when the laptop lid is closed, etc.<\/li>
  • Add Bluetooth devices, change the default printer, set up USB peripherals, and launch Device Manager.<\/li>
  • Back up files with the feature File history<\/em> (must be turned on first) and restore files to previous versions.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n
