Un equipo de la Universidad Aalto de Espoo (Finlandia), dirigido por el investigador Jere M\u00e4kinen, ha publicado un estudio que describe c\u00f3mo transformaron el cristal en un sistema optomec\u00e1nico. Estos sistemas podr\u00edan permitir sensores o unidades de memoria extremadamente precisos para ordenadores cu\u00e1nticos.<br><br>El experimento se llev\u00f3 a cabo en el Laboratorio de Baja Temperatura, parte de la infraestructura de investigaci\u00f3n nacional OtaNano, y con la ayuda de las capacidades inform\u00e1ticas del proyecto Aalto Science-IT.<br><br>Propuestos te\u00f3ricamente en 2012 por el premio Nobel Frank Wilczek, los cristales de tiempo son sistemas cu\u00e1nticos que operan en su estado de menor energ\u00eda sin aporte de energ\u00eda externa. En 2021, investigadores de Stanford, Google, Max Planck y Oxford crearon un cristal de tiempo utilizando el procesador cu\u00e1ntico Sycamore. Posteriormente, la Universidad Tecnol\u00f3gica de Delft cre\u00f3 un cristal dentro de un diamante.<br><br>Cient\u00edficos de la Universidad Aalto han demostrado que es posible acoplar un cristal a un sistema externo y ajustar sus propiedades. Inyectaron cuasipart\u00edculas de magnones en un superfluido de helio-3 mediante ondas de radio. Tras desactivar la bomba, los magnones formaron un cristal de tiempo que permaneci\u00f3 activo hasta 108 ciclos.<br><br>A medida que desaparec\u00eda gradualmente, el cristal se acopl\u00f3 a un oscilador mec\u00e1nico cercano, que depend\u00eda de su frecuencia y amplitud.
