Estas m\u00e1quinas son m\u00e1s peque\u00f1as que un grano de sal y operan a nivel de microorganismos biol\u00f3gicos. Esto abre nuevas posibilidades en la medicina y la industria.<br><br>A nivel microsc\u00f3pico, fuerzas f\u00edsicas como la resistencia al avance y la viscosidad de los fluidos son extremadamente potentes. En lugar de usar patas o aletas tradicionales, estos robots emplean campos el\u00e9ctricos para manipular los iones del fluido circundante. Los iones empujan las mol\u00e9culas de agua, lo que permite al robot nadar a una velocidad equivalente a la longitud de un cuerpo por segundo. Dado que el sistema no tiene partes m\u00f3viles, los robots son extremadamente duraderos.<br><br>El mayor reto fue integrar el procesador, la memoria, los sensores y las c\u00e9lulas solares en un espacio tan reducido. Las c\u00e9lulas solares cubren la mayor parte del robot, pero producen solo 75 nanovatios de energ\u00eda, m\u00e1s de 100.000 veces menos que la que consume un reloj inteligente. Para que los robots funcionen con tan poca energ\u00eda, desarrollaron circuitos ultraeficientes que reducen el consumo m\u00e1s de mil veces.<br><br>Los robots est\u00e1n equipados con sensores que miden la temperatura con una precisi\u00f3n de hasta 0,33 \u00b0C. Comunican sus hallazgos de una forma \u00fanica: mediante peque\u00f1os movimientos r\u00edtmicos o &quot;bailes&quot; que los investigadores observan bajo un microscopio y luego decodifican.
