Mediante un innovador proceso qu\u00edmico-enzim\u00e1tico, lograron aislar el carbono y convertirlo en carbohidratos complejos. En condiciones de laboratorio, este sistema produjo en un a\u00f1o la misma cantidad de almid\u00f3n que se obtendr\u00eda de un campo de ma\u00edz de aproximadamente 2500 metros cuadrados.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La fotos\u00edntesis natural en las plantas, cuyas hojas miden entre 5 y 50 cm de largo, es un proceso relativamente complejo, en el que solo una peque\u00f1a parte de la energ\u00eda solar se almacena como alimento. Sin embargo, el m\u00e9todo chino funciona a una velocidad hasta 10 veces mayor, lo que podr\u00eda reducir dr\u00e1sticamente el coste de producci\u00f3n de piensos y materias primas para biopl\u00e1sticos. Si la tecnolog\u00eda se ampliara a escala industrial, una tonelada de este almid\u00f3n podr\u00eda costar menos de 320 \u20ac en el futuro, lo que lo har\u00eda competitivo frente al almid\u00f3n natural.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Este logro no solo aporta mayor seguridad alimentaria, sino tambi\u00e9n una herramienta importante en la lucha contra el cambio clim\u00e1tico.
