Las bater\u00edas convencionales utilizan \u00e1cidos y bases agresivos que corroen los materiales internos con el tiempo y suponen un grave riesgo ambiental si se desechan de forma inadecuada. El nuevo dise\u00f1o evita este problema por completo.<br><br>En lugar de electrolitos t\u00f3xicos, la bater\u00eda utiliza una soluci\u00f3n neutra de sales de magnesio y calcio, similar a las del tofu. El electrolito tiene un pH de 7, lo que significa que no corroe los electrodos y prolonga considerablemente su vida \u00fatil.<br><br>El electrodo negativo se basa en un pol\u00edmero org\u00e1nico especialmente sintetizado que act\u00faa como una red pl\u00e1stica altamente conductora. Sus enlaces qu\u00edmicos permiten el r\u00e1pido almacenamiento de iones divalentes, crucial para un funcionamiento estable. El electrodo positivo est\u00e1 hecho de azul de Prusia, un material muy conocido en el mundo de las bater\u00edas acuosas.<br><br>Las pruebas han demostrado que la celda alcanza un voltaje de 2,2 V y una energ\u00eda espec\u00edfica de 48,3 Wh\/kg. El dato m\u00e1s impresionante es su excepcional durabilidad: la bater\u00eda se mantuvo estable durante 120.000 ciclos con una carga alta de 20 A\/g. Si se carga una vez al d\u00eda, te\u00f3ricamente durar\u00eda m\u00e1s de 300 a\u00f1os, una duraci\u00f3n incomparable con las bater\u00edas convencionales, que empiezan a fallar tras unos pocos miles de ciclos.<br><br>El sistema tambi\u00e9n alcanza una capacidad espec\u00edfica de 112,8 mAh\/g, y los materiales son completamente at\u00f3xicos y cumplen con las normas ambientales internacionales, como RCRA e ISO 14001.
