Investigadores liderados por Siddhartha Somasundaram del MIT Media Lab han demostrado que un sensor LiDAR integrado en un smartphone puede reconstruir objetos 3D ocultos, rastrear el movimiento alrededor de esquinas e incluso ayudar a determinar la posici\u00f3n de la c\u00e1mara en el espacio utilizando objetos fuera de su campo de visi\u00f3n directo. Los sensores LiDAR modernos para el consumidor pueden medir el tiempo de vuelo en el rango de los picosegundos, lo cual es suficiente para detectar diferencias de cent\u00edmetros.
