Leur \u00e9tude d\u00e9crit une batterie au lithium m\u00e9tal sans anode qui double quasiment la densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique sans augmenter la taille du pack. Cette perc\u00e9e est le fruit d&#039;une collaboration entre POSTECH, KAIST et l&#039;Universit\u00e9 de Gyeongsang. Les chercheurs estiment que cette approche pourrait influencer la conception future des batteries pour v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques.<br><br>L&#039;\u00e9quipe, dirig\u00e9e par le professeur Soojin Park et le docteur Dong-Yeob Han, a atteint une densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique volumique de 1\u00a0270 Wh\/L, soit pr\u00e8s du double des quelque 650 Wh\/L atteints par les batteries lithium-ion actuelles des v\u00e9hicules \u00e9lectriques. L&#039;avantage principal r\u00e9side dans la suppression de l&#039;anode en graphite. Lors de la charge, les ions lithium provenant de la cathode se d\u00e9posent directement sur le collecteur en cuivre, lib\u00e9rant ainsi de l&#039;espace interne et permettant d&#039;int\u00e9grer davantage de mat\u00e9riau actif dans un m\u00eame volume.<br><br>Les batteries sans anode pr\u00e9sentent toutefois des difficult\u00e9s techniques. Une charge en lithium irr\u00e9guli\u00e8re peut entra\u00eener la formation de dendrites, susceptibles de perforer les couches internes et de provoquer des courts-circuits. De plus, les cycles de charge et de d\u00e9charge r\u00e9p\u00e9t\u00e9s endommagent la surface du lithium et r\u00e9duisent la dur\u00e9e de vie de la cellule.<br><br>Pour surmonter ces probl\u00e8mes, les chercheurs ont utilis\u00e9 une combinaison d&#039;un mat\u00e9riau h\u00f4te r\u00e9versible (RH) et d&#039;un \u00e9lectrolyte con\u00e7u (DEL). Le RH est une structure polym\u00e8re contenant des nanoparticules d&#039;argent qui assure une charge uniforme en lithium. Le DEL cr\u00e9e une couche protectrice stable de Li\u2082O et de Li\u2083N qui emp\u00eache la formation de dendrites tout en permettant une migration rapide des ions.<br><br>L&#039;association de RH et DEL a assur\u00e9 un fonctionnement stable m\u00eame dans des conditions exigeantes. \u00c0 4,6 mAh\/cm\u00b2 et 2,3 mA\/cm\u00b2, la cellule a conserv\u00e9 81,9 % de sa capacit\u00e9 initiale apr\u00e8s 100 cycles et a atteint un rendement colombien de 99,6 %.
