Outre le risque d&#039;emballement thermique, le prix \u00e9lev\u00e9 du lithium freine son utilisation \u00e0 plus grande \u00e9chelle. L&#039;\u00e9quipe a r\u00e9solu le probl\u00e8me en optant pour une chimie redox, permettant ainsi le d\u00e9veloppement d&#039;une batterie sans anode. La conception comprend un collecteur de courant en feuille d&#039;aluminium, une cathode en soufre et un \u00e9lectrolyte sp\u00e9cial \u00e0 base de chloroaluminate non inflammable, additionn\u00e9 de dicyanamide de sodium (NaDCA). Gr\u00e2ce au catalyseur Bi-COF, la densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique atteint 2\u00a0021\u00a0Wh\/kg. Le co\u00fbt est encore plus remarquable\u00a0: le prix estim\u00e9 est d\u2019environ 4,65\u00a0euros par kWh seulement, soit dix fois moins cher que les batteries au lithium.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Malgr\u00e9 l&#039;enthousiasme suscit\u00e9, des d\u00e9fis subsistent.
