Ce nouveau microrobot ne mesure que 0,1 mm (environ 100 microm\u00e8tres) de long, ce qui permettrait d&#039;en int\u00e9grer des milliers dans une seule seringue. D\u00e9pourvu de moteurs et de batteries au sens traditionnel du terme, son mouvement est aliment\u00e9 par des nanor\u00e9acteurs photovolta\u00efques sp\u00e9cialis\u00e9s qui r\u00e9agissent \u00e0 la lumi\u00e8re laser. Lorsqu&#039;un laser \u00e9claire une partie sp\u00e9cifique du robot, ses \u00ab pattes \u00bb en platine et en titane se plient, le faisant se d\u00e9placer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ce qui distingue ce projet des pr\u00e9c\u00e9dentes exp\u00e9riences de microrobotique, c&#039;est sa programmabilit\u00e9. Les scientifiques ont int\u00e9gr\u00e9 un circuit int\u00e9gr\u00e9 simple (CMOS) au robot, qui lui sert de cerveau. Ce circuit permet au robot d&#039;ex\u00e9cuter des instructions complexes sans \u00eatre connect\u00e9 directement \u00e0 une source d&#039;alimentation ou de contr\u00f4le externe. C&#039;est la premi\u00e8re fois qu&#039;ils parviennent \u00e0 int\u00e9grer des op\u00e9rations logiques dans un espace aussi r\u00e9duit. Bien qu&#039;ils travaillent actuellement uniquement avec des fluides de laboratoire, l&#039;objectif est clair\u00a0: l&#039;application \u00e0 l&#039;organisme humain.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Les applications potentielles sont stup\u00e9fiantes. \u00c0 l&#039;avenir, de tels robots pourraient circuler dans notre syst\u00e8me sanguin, localiser les cellules canc\u00e9reuses et leur administrer directement des m\u00e9dicaments, \u00e9vitant ainsi les effets secondaires de la chimioth\u00e9rapie. Ils pourraient \u00e9galement effectuer des micro-interventions sur les art\u00e8res ou \u00e9liminer la plaque des veines.
