Jusqu&#039;\u00e0 pr\u00e9sent, les alternatives telles que le sodium ou le potassium \u00e9taient moins performantes en raison de leur faible densit\u00e9 \u00e9nerg\u00e9tique et de probl\u00e8mes d&#039;instabilit\u00e9 \u00e0 haute tension. Ce nouveau prototype utilise une solution \u00e9lectrolytique innovante qui emp\u00eache la d\u00e9gradation des mat\u00e9riaux, permettant un fonctionnement s\u00fbr \u00e0 des tensions sup\u00e9rieures \u00e0 4 volts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Ces cellules, qui mesurent environ 4,5 cm x 3,2 cm en laboratoire, sont fabriqu\u00e9es \u00e0 partir de mat\u00e9riaux beaucoup plus abondants dans la nature que le lithium. Les experts estiment que l&#039;utilisation du potassium pourrait r\u00e9duire le co\u00fbt de production des batteries de plus de 40 %. Alors qu&#039;une tonne de carbonate de lithium co\u00fbte plusieurs dizaines de milliers d&#039;euros, les mati\u00e8res premi\u00e8res pour les batteries au potassium sont disponibles pour environ 450 \u00e0 900 euros la tonne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Bien que l\u00e9g\u00e8rement plus lourdes que les batteries au lithium et mesurant environ 15 cm de long pour les modules standard, ces batteries sont id\u00e9ales pour le stockage stationnaire d&#039;\u00e9nergie sur le r\u00e9seau \u00e9lectrique. De ce fait, il serait possible de construire des parcs de batteries stockant l&#039;\u00e9nergie solaire et \u00e9olienne \u00e0 un co\u00fbt bien moindre.
