Cette batterie enti\u00e8rement nucl\u00e9aire, d\u00e9velopp\u00e9e en Chine, utilise l&#039;isotope carbone-14 et un convertisseur en carbure de silicium (SiC). Elle repr\u00e9sente une avanc\u00e9e majeure par rapport \u00e0 son pr\u00e9d\u00e9cesseur, la Zhulong-1 (2024), car elle r\u00e9sout les probl\u00e8mes de co\u00fbt \u00e9lev\u00e9, de faible puissance et d&#039;int\u00e9gration complexe.<br><br>Contrairement aux batteries nucl\u00e9aires classiques que la NASA et la Chine utilisent d\u00e9j\u00e0 dans leurs sondes spatiales et rovers lunaires (comme Chang&#039;e-3 et Chang&#039;e-4), qui fonctionnent selon le principe de la conversion de la chaleur en \u00e9lectricit\u00e9, l&#039;innovation chinoise emprunte une voie diff\u00e9rente. Cette batterie fonctionne de mani\u00e8re similaire \u00e0 une cellule solaire, \u00e0 ceci pr\u00e8s qu&#039;au lieu de la lumi\u00e8re, elle capte les \u00e9lectrons (particules b\u00eata) lib\u00e9r\u00e9s lors de la d\u00e9sint\u00e9gration du carbone 14, lesquels g\u00e9n\u00e8rent directement un courant \u00e9lectrique dans un semi-conducteur en carbure de silicium.<br><br>Gr\u00e2ce \u00e0 cette technologie et \u00e0 une structure tridimensionnelle pli\u00e9e avanc\u00e9e, les scientifiques ont r\u00e9duit le volume de la batterie de 17 % tout en augmentant la densit\u00e9 de puissance volumique d&#039;un facteur 15. La batterie nucl\u00e9aire Qianjiyuan Tianshu mesure un peu plus de 16,8 centim\u00e8tres cubes, mais peut produire un courant de 0,713 microamp\u00e8res \u00e0 une tension de 2,06 V et une puissance de sortie maximale de 1,13 microwatts.<br><br>Le principal atout de cette batterie r\u00e9side dans sa dur\u00e9e de vie exceptionnelle.
