Osim rizika od spontanog izgaranja (termalnog bijega), visoka cijena litija sprje\u010dava \u0161iru upotrebu. Istra\u017eiva\u010di sa Sveu\u010dili\u0161ta Jiao Tong u \u0160angaju stoga su razvili alternativu na bazi natrija i sumpora koja koristi obilne i jeftine sirovine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prethodni poku\u0161aji s ovom kemijom nisu uspjeli zbog niskog napona i potrebe za ogromnim koli\u010dinama natrija. Tim je rije\u0161io problem prelaskom na takozvanu redoks kemiju, \u0161to je omogu\u0107ilo razvoj baterije bez anode. Dizajn uklju\u010duje aluminijski folijski strujni kolektor, sumpornu katodu i poseban nezapaljivi kloroaluminatni elektrolit s dodatkom natrijevog dicijanamida (NaDCA). Ovaj spoj omogu\u0107uje stabilan rad na sobnoj temperaturi i pobolj\u0161ava u\u010dinkovitost procesa na elektrodama.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Rezultati su impresivni: baterija posti\u017ee gusto\u0107u energije do 1.198 Wh\/kg i specifi\u010dnu snagu od 23.773 W\/kg. Kori\u0161tenjem Bi-COF katalizatora, gusto\u0107a energije porasla je na 2.021 Wh\/kg. Aspekt tro\u0161kova je jo\u0161 impresivniji. Procijenjena cijena je samo oko 4,65 eura po kWh, \u0161to je za red veli\u010dine jeftinije od litijevih baterija.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Unato\u010d uzbu\u0111enju, izazovi ostaju. Elektrolit je vrlo korozivan i zahtijeva posebno rukovanje, a dugoro\u010dna stabilnost na zraku jo\u0161 nije u potpunosti potvr\u0111ena.
