Alienware introduced two crazy monitors
Alienware unveiled two QD-OLED monitors at TwitchCon 2023, adding the Dell subsidiary's new flattering title of "the world's first 4K QD-OLED monitor" to its portfolio. Founded in 1996, Alienware was the first to develop a gaming laptop, a laptop with dual graphics cards, and is the company that standardized liquid cooling for desktops. Today, their reputation is more shaky. Compared to the competition, they offer significantly more expensive computers for the same performance.
The new monitor could once again raise the prestige of the Alienware brand.
The monitors share a three-year warranty against OLED burn-in and are expected to arrive in early January 2024. Most likely during CES 2024, which will be held from January 9-12.
The Alienware AW3225QF is the larger of the two – with a 32-inch curved QD-OLED panel that has a 4K resolution and a 240Hz refresh rate. According to Alienware, it is the world's first 4K QD-OLED monitor. Those who are impatient and would like to get their hands on a similar product from the Alienware brand now can pick up the 34-inch AW3423DW, which was introduced last year as the world's first QD-OLED gaming monitor. However, they will have to compromise with a resolution of "only" 1440p and a refresh rate of 175Hz.
The smaller AW2725QF is presented as the world's first QD-OLED gaming monitor with a 360 Hz refresh rate, but it offers a resolution of "only" 2560 x 1440 pixels. It is considered the successor to the AW2723DF, which is also a flat monitor with a 1440p resolution and a high, but still slightly lower refresh rate of 280 Hz. Unfortunately, the AW2723DF only has an IPS panel. And finally: those who want to enjoy the extreme refresh rate of 360 Hz can already do so thanks to the AW2724HF model, but here too a compromise is required, namely the resolution of 1080p.
The full list of specifications and features of these two upcoming next-gen gaming monitors is not yet available. This information, as well as information on pricing and availability, is expected to appear at the end of this year or in early 2024.
