ChatGPT Images gets a major upgrade
Faster, smarter and more accurate
GPT Image 1.5 is up to four times faster than the previous version. OpenAI is advertising it as a serious creative tool, something between a mini visual production studio and an experienced design team that understands completely normal language. The model is designed to follow instructions more reliably and provide more accurate processing, which was one of the biggest pain points of older UIgenerators.
A new experience within ChatGPT
ChatGPT now includes a new “Images” tab, a central place for creating images. It contains:
- preset filters,
- customized suggestions based on current trends,
- template for editing without writing prompts – the user can click on, for example, a retro magazine layout or futuristic “food styling” and immediately see the result.
This is all part of OpenAI's strategy to make the tool the most accessible path to visual creativity even for those without design knowledge.
Fewer errors, better sequential edits
The new model:
- creates denser text better,
- can display a larger number of faces without distortion,
- has more memory capacity for elements during multiple consecutive edits,
- allows you to change one detail without triggering unwanted changes elsewhere.
Previous generations quickly "forgot" what was required, or got confused when combining instructions - Image 1.5 is much more stable here.
Advanced image combining and transformation
The upgrade allows:
- mixing styles,
- transferring elements from one image to another,
- cutting out certain components and moving them to a new context,
- editing complex scenes without misinterpreted spaces or distances.
Despite the progress, the model still makes mistakes sometimes. For example, it may take a term too literally or misinterpret an instruction. But according to OpenAI, these cases are now the exception, not the rule.
ChatGPT among the big playgrounds for UI visual creation
In parallel, Adobe is bringing Photoshop and Acrobat directly into ChatGPT, signaling a future where multiple creative platforms will work in the same window. Users will be able to create a design in ChatGPT, then switch to Photoshop for fine-tuning, all without switching applications.
Competition like Google Gemini and Midjourney remains strong, but ChatGPT Images has a huge advantage: it's right at your fingertips, without the need for separate accounts, Discord servers, or specialized tools.
Democracy of creation, but ethical questions remain
Optimized ChatGPT Images means that high-quality visual production is accessible even to those without technical skills or expensive software. But this raises important questions:
- What proportion of the created image is really the result of the user's creativity?
- What data are the models trained on – and were the authors informed about this?
- How will this affect the future of professional designers and photographers?
The results are often stunning, but they also make us think: what does it mean to “create” when a tool does most of the process for us?
