Fantastic news for fans of Dragon Quest games

The Nintendo Direct event that took place on June 18 answered the long-standing wishes of fans who want to replay the older Dragon Quest games on the Nintendo Switch console and other platforms. They announced the remake of Dragon Quest 1, 2 and also 3. They set a date for the remake of the first two games once in 2025, and for the third game on November 14, 2024.

Tretja igra v franšizi Dragon Quest je ena najbolj znanih, saj je začetek trilogije glavnega protagonista Erdricka. Predelava tretje igre je bila prvotno napovedana med 35. obletnico franšize. Razvijalci so napovedali, da bo igra imela način igranja, ki temelji na slogu igre Octopath Traveler. Čeprav gre za predelavo v ločljivosti HD, lahko igralci še vedno pričakujejo izvirno grafiko v živahni HD-2D. Enako lahko rečemo za predelavo iger Dragon Quest 1 & 2, ki sta pripovedno čisto ločeni od tretje igre.

Square Enix je napovedal, da bo Dragon Quest 1 & 2 HD-2D Remake prispel leta 2025, kar bo igralcem ponudilo dovolj časa za ugibanja o tem, kaj lahko pričakujejo. Dragon Quest 3 HD-2D Remake naj bi izšel 14. novembra za namizne računalnike, Xbox, PlayStation in Switch.

All three games share the same protagonist, Erdrick, and are part of the same story, with the third game being the first chronologically. It is then followed on the timeline by the first game and then the second. With that in mind, it makes sense for the developers to release the third game in the franchise before the other two. Dragon Quest 2 is considered by fans to be the hardest of all the games.

Which one is the best? Opinions are divided here. Dragon Quest 3 is on many lists, but equally popular are Dragon Quest VIII and XI.
