The new "Purchases" section will display only purchase-related emails on mobile and web - from order confirmations to estimated delivery dates.
Gmail introduces new functionality for better overview of online purchases and orders

What does the new “Purchases” section bring?

The “Purchases” section builds on Gmail’s existing package tracking features, which show packages expected to arrive in the next 24 hours at the top of your inbox. Gmail also already offers order tracking with delivery information. Now, all of these emails will be gathered in one place, making it easier to see.

Gmail is also adding a feature to highlight current offers in the “Promotions” category, as well as a new filter that lets you sort emails by “most relevant” messages. This filter will highlight updates from brands that users interact with most often, but you can always switch back to a “most recent” view.

Implementation timeline

The updated “Promotions” tab will begin rolling out to mobile users with personal Gmail accounts in the coming weeks, giving users a better overview of their purchases and offers without having to dig through a bunch of other messages.
