Huawei unveils second generation dual-folding phone
This year, Samsung has refined the design of its foldable phones, bringing it into line with its Chinese competitors, who have already released their second generation of dual-folding phones.
Huawei has officially unveiled the Mate XTs, its second-generation dual-folding phone, which is now available for pre-order in China. It's a minor upgrade over the first version, but it brings a few new features: stylus support, new colors, and a slightly lower price.
The biggest new feature is support for a stylus, which can now be used on the foldable screen. The screen itself remains similar to before. It has a basic diagonal of 10.2 inches, but when folded it shrinks to 7.9 and 6.4 inches, respectively. Other improvements include the new Kirin 9020 processor, an improved 40 MP ultra-wide camera, and color variants. In addition to the already familiar red and black, there are also white and purple, all with a leather-like finish.
The Mate XTs starts at around €2,300. While that's not cheap, it's still cheaper than its predecessor, the Mate XT, which cost around €2,560 at launch and later €3,499 in the European market. The price was the biggest drawback with the previous generation, even though the device impressed with its practicality and innovative design.
Huawei is thus far ahead of the competition with its second dual-folding model on the market. Samsung is still preparing its own. Along with the Mate XTs, the Chinese have also announced the MatePad Mini tablet, new Freebuds 7i headphones, and the MateTV line of televisions.
