A modern desk is often cluttered with adapters, cables, and workarounds. Laptops with two USB-C ports rarely cover all your needs, such as displays, storage, wired connections, and constant charging, which naturally leads to clutter.

The HubKey Gen2 aims to solve this problem. It's an 11-in-1 USB-C hub and a small control panel, designed as a compact cube that sits within easy reach. On top are four shortcut buttons and a central button that provide quick access to everyday functions, while the hub takes care of displays, power, storage, and networking.

The upgraded HubKey Pro 2 brings the most requested enhancement: two HDMI ports, each capable of displaying 4K at 60Hz. This allows the laptop to drive two high-resolution displays without lag, transforming a limited workspace into a true multi-display station for editing, programming, or multitasking. Connectivity includes USB-A 3.1 and USB-C 3.1 (10Gbps), SD and TF slots, 2.5Gbps Ethernet, 3.5mm audio out, and a dedicated 100W USB-C PD port. One cable connects all your devices and reduces cable clutter.

The control panel allows for functions such as volume, mute, screen lock, screen off, screen capture and lighting. The built-in driver unlocks five preset systems with 170 combinations, plus a mode for full macro and shortcut customization. The device works driver-free on Windows, macOS, Linux and Steam Deck, with the option for additional customization.

The center button has a smooth feel for volume control, and the LED ring can be dimmed or turned off. Priced at around $82 (down from $165), the HubKey Gen2 isn't a replacement for a professional dock, but it brings a sense of order and purpose to the typical laptop workspace.
