Humanoid robots take over Chinese factories!
Shenzhen is now home to a major robotics milestone, as UBTECH Robotics confirmed that hundreds of Walker S2 humanoid robots have already been deployed in active industrial facilities, marking the first mass delivery of humanoids designed to look and move like humans.
UBTECH ramped up production in mid-November, with the first batch already arriving at partners who need additional workers on assembly lines. Demand for the automation of physically demanding tasks is high, and the company has received orders worth an estimated 15 million euros this year.
Among the larger orders, an estimated 4.6 million euros from a well-known Chinese company, an estimated 2.9 million euros from Sichuan province, an estimated 2.3 million euros from Guangxi, and more than 1.8 million euros from Miee Auto from Hubei stand out. UBTECH plans to deliver 500 Walker robots by the end of December.
Major automakers such as BYD, Geely Auto, FAW Volkswagen and Dongfeng Liuzhou Motor are among the main customers. Foxconn is also adding robots for logistics support. The robots are proving themselves in factories and warehouses, where they operate without constant supervision.
The biggest advantage of the Walker S2 is its battery replacement system, which allows for autonomous battery replacement without human assistance. The robot is tall, robust, and has joints that mimic human movement, allowing it to lift heavy objects and provide precise finger control.
