Meta has introduced a new AI video generator

That's right, we got another AI tool. Almost every month we get something new from companies that have put all their focus on artificial intelligence. This time it's Meta's turn, which had to respond to OpenAI when it introduced Soro, an artificial intelligence tool that can create video from text, in February.

Movie Gen, Meta's latest AI tool, can do something similar. Both are similar in that they are not available to the public and will not be for some time.

Movie Gen uses text input to automatically create new videos and edit existing clips or photos. Even the sound added to the videos is created by artificial intelligence, which harmonizes the visual material with environmental noise, sound effects and background music.

When will users be able to test the tool? Meta's Product Manager Chris Cox announced on the Threads platform that the tool will not be available for some time. The cost of operation is too high for now, the time to create recordings is too long. Recently, Meta managed to "steal" one of the main developers from OpenAI, who was involved in the Sora project from the very beginning.

Both companies (and several others) are still fending off critics and regulators investigating the way they collect the data that feeds the big language models. Meta has yet to fully explain what data it collects through its Meta Ray Ban AR glasses, but Runaway has admitted to using YouTube videos to learn.
