The Raspberry Pi Foundation has been marketing the Raspberry Pi 5 desktop computer for some time, which is equipped with four gigabytes or eight gigabytes of system memory (depending on the version) and a Broadcom BCM2712 processor manufactured using 16-nanometer technology. It uses four 64-bit ARM Cortex-A76 processor cores with a frequency of 2.4 gigahertz for data processing. The graphics are handled by the integrated VideoCore VII graphics core, which provides support for OpenGL ES 3.1 and Vulkan 1.2 and the advanced MESA driver.

Direct competition to the described one is the recently introduced miniature computers FriendlyELEC NanoPi M5. The novelty is based on the powerful Rockchip RK3576 processor. This calculates data with four powerful Cortex-A72 processor cores and four energy-efficient Cortex-A53 cores. The novelty has a system memory capacity of four, eight or 16 gigabytes of system memory.

The new FriendlyELEC NanoPi M5 is very compact and also offers support for M.2 2280 NVMe Solid State drives and for Wi-Fi and Bluetooth wireless connections. The novelty supports a wide range of open source operating systems. So everything we need for our projects. The novelty is also very cheap. The entry-level version with four gigabytes of system memory is available for just 48.47 euros.
