Netflix is raising prices again

Netflix is raising prices again

Netflix has raised the prices of its subscription plans again. The cheapest ad-supported plan now costs $8.99 per month (up from $7.99), while the standard and premium plans have also gone up in price. The standard plan has increased from $17.99 to $19.99 per month, and the premium plan from $24.99 to $26.99. According to our information, the price increase for existing and new users will occur in April.

This is a new price increase after the last price increase in January 2025. Since then, Netflix has expanded its offering considerably. Among other things, it has introduced video podcasts, strengthened its presence in the field of live event broadcasts, added new games for TVs, and redesigned the user interface on both the TV app and mobile devices.

The company also considered a major acquisition during this period. It almost bought Warner Bros. and its streaming service HBO Max for about $83 billion, but ultimately decided not to match a higher offer from Paramount.

On the financial side, Netflix is seeing growth primarily in its advertising segment, which brought it approximately $1.5 billion in revenue in 2025. This is still a small share of its total annual revenue, which amounted to $45.2 billion.

This time, the company did not provide a clear explanation for the price increase. In the previous price increase, it cited the reason as providing "greater value for users." It is also not yet known when the new prices will go into effect for existing subscribers.

Netflix is not alone in this. Recently, competitors such as Amazon with its Prime Video service, Crunchyroll, Paramount Plus, HBO Max and Apple TV Plus have also introduced price increases. The annual price increases are also the reason why video piracy is still flourishing and even on the rise. If you are interested, we have also prepared an article, how pirate groups bypass the protection of Netflix and others.
