New ChromeOS with an interesting battery feature
ChromeOS 141 is a new version of the operating system that brings some useful new features, mainly for better battery management and increased device security. Although it is a minor update, the new battery health feature is very welcome.
Users can now choose between two charging modes in Settings under Device > Power: a limit of 80Wh for longer battery life, or adaptive charging that ends just before the device is used. This feature is particularly useful for personal users, although it can be overridden by device administrators.
For IT administrators, ChromeOS 141 brings greater transparency into data recovery, the ability to load your own PPD printer drivers, and new policies for the Device Attributes API that allow for better control over data access.
However, two devices, the Lenovo Chromebook Plus 14 and the Acer Chromebook Plus Spin 514, have not yet received the update. These are models with the MediaTek Kompania Ultra chip and will have to wait a little longer for the update. It should be available soon.
