New Instagram posts with a maximum of 20 images or videos
Whether you've been dreaming of a longer Instagram "carousel" post of your dog or cat, your latest fantastic trip, or just a summary of the events of the last month, the new feature coming to Instagram will definitely make you happy.
Instagram, Meta's social network that continues to see user growth, announced today, August 9, that "carousel" posts will be able to contain up to 20 images or videos. That's twice the limit that was previously allowed. Although most users of the platform don't post to the gallery every day, this is certainly positive news for all those who have always wanted more in-depth posts.
This type of gallery-format post is a convenient way to post multiple things connected by a common theme. We can easily scroll left and right between images and videos, and those more serious content creators will be able to “communicate” even more by lifting the limit. You've probably already seen these “monthly dumps” post types, in which users show what happened to them throughout the month through images and videos. These and similar posts will now be even richer in content.
Of course, it's important to point out that this 20-image or video limit isn't something we necessarily have to hit when we post. We can also publish just one picture or video, or of course a combination of both. The new limit set by Instagram kind of follows the model of TikTok, where the limit is 35. It seems that Instagram is trying to raise the level and intensity of user interaction compared to TikTok.
This update is already rolling out across devices globally and we'll be able to post a gallery of 20 photos soon. Instagram has been pretty active on the upgrade front this summer. Just a reminder that in July he introduced AI Studio, which helps bigger, more serious users of the platform get closer to followers.
