OpenAI is bringing back the 4o model after user complaints

OpenAI recently unveiled its highly anticipated GPT-5 model. While user expectations were high, the removal of access to older models caused considerable disappointment among long-time users who had already developed specific uses for GPT-4o and others.

CEO Sam Altman admitted that the company underestimated the importance of GPT-4o's specific features, despite the fact that GPT-5 is generally considered to be better.
