Perplexity AI is coming to Samsung phones

Perplexity AI is coming to Samsung phones

In addition to Bixby and Gemini, users of the new Samsung Galaxy S26 will be able to invoke Perplexity with the voice command “Hey, Plex.” The integration of Perplexity AI into the Galaxy AI environment is part of Samsung’s strategy to create a multi-agent AI ecosystem.

The company believes that users use different UI assistants for different tasks, depending on their preferences. That’s why Samsung is opening up its operating system to deeper integration of multiple agents. Perplexity will not only be a standalone app for quick answers, but will also have access to system apps like Samsung Notes, Clock, Gallery, Reminder, and Calendar, as well as select third-party apps that Samsung has yet to reveal.

Samsung believes that users will increasingly use artificial intelligence as their primary way of interacting with their smartphone. Since they can become strongly attached to a particular AI assistant, the company wants to give users more freedom in choosing the central agent on their device, as it seeks to differentiate itself from rivals like Apple and Google.

Samsung is expected to reveal more details about the development of Galaxy AI and its vision for a multi-agent future at an upcoming event Samsung Unpacked, which will be at the end of February.
