Rufus with improved support for Windows 11 25H2
Microsoft has finally released Windows 11 version 25H2, also known as the 2025 Update. ISO images were available on official servers a week before the official release. The popular bootable USB creation tool Rufus quickly followed suit with version 4.11, which supports the new update.
Installing the new version is easy. Microsoft states that only the eKB5054156 update is required. However, it warns against using caution on business systems and planning ahead.
Despite early support, some users have reported issues creating bootable USBs due to the new Windows UEFI CA 2023 security certificates. The Rufus developer has acknowledged the bug and fixed it in the latest version.
A bypass option has also been added via the first selection in the WUE (Windows User Experience) dialog, which does not affect systems with TPM and Secure Boot. Additionally, the WUE text has been updated to better understand the CA 2023 option.
Rufus 4.11 includes other improvements:
- Ctrl-Alt-D shortcut to switch between dark and light mode
- Updated Linux SBAT and Microsoft Secure Boot (SVN) values
- Fixes for GRUB/Syslinux dialogs
- Fix error when using CA 2023 option
- Solution for application crash on systems with a failed dynamic disk
