Rumors predict bold new features for the iPhone 17 Pro

Interesting rumors have surfaced online about an unexpected camera upgrade for the upcoming iPhone 17 Pro. Although this is unofficial information, it suggests significant improvements that could excite photography enthusiasts.
Rumors predict bold new features for the iPhone 17 Pro

With about six weeks to go before the official launch of the new iPhone 17 Pro, rumors have surfaced that Apple is preparing three unexpected camera upgrades. An anonymous source cited by MacRumors claims to have obtained the information from a commercial that is reportedly currently being produced by a film company that has a publicly confirmed partnership with Apple.

The first major upgrade is said to be related to the telephoto lens. It is expected that the new model will offer an 8x optical zoom, which is a significant leap from the current 5x zoom, and will also allow for movement and achieving different focal lengths.

Another alleged innovation is the introduction of a professional application for photography and recording, which would allow professional users even greater flexibility and control over the creation of quality content.

The third innovation, which seems the least likely, but therefore all the more interesting, is an additional camera control button, which is said to be located somewhere on the top edge of the device.

What is more likely and what is less likely?

Experts believe the first two upgrades are more likely. In particular, improved optical zoom is a change that Apple could introduce, as the competition already offers similar or even better solutions. A professional camera app also makes sense, as it would allow Apple to satisfy both casual users and professional photographers who need more features.

An additional camera button is less likely, as physical changes are often revealed well before the official launch, but there have been rumors of similar features in the past that later turned out to be true.

Additional details and rumors

Noted leaker Jon Prosser hinted back in April that the iPhone 17 Pro would support multi-camera video recording, a feature that has been available through third-party apps for some time. This further supports the possibility that Apple is seriously considering a professional camera app that would enable even more of these advanced features.

Apple has already taken steps to simplify the default camera app in iOS 26, so a separate professional app would be an ideal solution for the needs of different user groups.

Although all the information is still unofficial and comes from anonymous sources, it is already generating a lot of interest among the public and experts. Apple may confirm or refute these rumors with the introduction of the iPhone 17 Pro, but we can certainly expect the device to continue to set high standards in the field of mobile photography and videography.
