Samsung recently unveiled its boldest foldable device yet, the Galaxy Z TriFold. Although it only officially launched in China last week, importers have already started offering it around the world, but at prices that far exceed the official MSRP.

The Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone features a 25.4 cm (10-inch) Dynamic AMOLED display with a resolution of 2,160 x 1,584 pixels, 120 Hz refresh rate, 1,600 nits of brightness and full coverage of the DCI-P3 color spectrum. The cover display uses the same panel in a 16.5 cm (6.5-inch) format, which reaches up to 2,600 nits of brightness. When folded, the phone measures 159.2 x 75.0 x 12.9 mm, and when unfolded, it is only 3.9 mm thick, thinner than the Galaxy Z Fold 7. It weighs 309 g without a protective film. The device has IP48 water and dust protection and uses Samsung's "most advanced hinge ever" with a dual-link design. The body is made of Advanced Armor Aluminum and reinforced with ceramic-glass fibers. Other specs include a 5,600mAh battery with 45W charging, a Snapdragon 8 Elite SoC (not Gen 5), 16GB of RAM, and 256/512GB of storage. Cameras include a 200MP main sensor, 12MP ultra-wide and 10MP telephoto (3x optical, 10x digital zoom), and a 10MP front sensor on both displays. Connectivity includes 5G, Wi-Fi 7, NFC, and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner.

All of this doesn't come cheap, of course. In China, the Galaxy Z TriFold smartphone costs around €2,835 for the 16GB RAM and 512GB storage version, while the 1TB version costs around €3,545. Limited official availability is planned in South Korea, Singapore, Taiwan, the UAE, and the US, as a complement to the existing Galaxy Z Fold7 (currently around €1,850 on Amazon).

Independent retailers such as Average Dad Tech and Trinity Electronics are already offering the TriFold globally. Prices are in excess of €3,700, with Trinity advertising it for around €4,050 before discounts. Shipping costs are not included, and delivery times can be long.

Although Samsung has not yet revealed an exact release date for global markets, the TriFold signals a new era of foldable devices, from dual screens to triple panels that bring greater flexibility and productivity.
