This Windows 10 will be supported until 2032
Microsoft is increasingly focusing on the development of the Windows 11 operating system. The new version of the operating system brings a renewed design and puts the user and their content at the center. Although the Windows 11 operating system is now available to everyone, according to statistics from StatCounter, it is currently used by just over 43 percent of PC users worldwide. On the other hand, 53 percent of users still swear by the Windows 10 operating system.
Microsoft wants to reduce this percentage and “migrate” as many users as possible to Windows 11. The company will actually try to achieve this by abandoning major feature upgrades for Windows 10. The Windows 10 22H2 update was the last major update to this operating system. It has been available to users since November 18 last year. Microsoft is of course encouraging users to switch to the much more modern Windows 11 24H2. In this way, it hopes to significantly increase the market share of the new operating system.
Windows 10 will be supported until October 14, 2025. Of course, there will be exceptions. This will mainly be for companies that are willing to pay for extended support. However, this will not apply to a special version of the Windows 10 operating system. This is the so-called long-term servicing channel (LTSC), for which Microsoft will guarantee support until at least 2032.
The Windows 10 LTSC operating system is of course not intended for ordinary users. It is used in connection with special systems, such as ATMs, hospital computers, industrial devices, and the like. This means that this type of Windows 10 operating system receives only the most necessary security and software patches. Although Windows 10 LTSC was not prepared for personal computers, this does not mean that it cannot be installed on them. However, since it is a special version of the system, its operation may not be to everyone's liking.
