What is the difference between the Galaxy S25 Edge and the S25 Ultra?
Samsung has recently announced the availability of its highly anticipated Galaxy S25 Edge smartphone. The new device is expected to be equipped with extremely powerful hardware, and its retail price is quite appropriate. The entry-level version is available on Samsung's website for 1,249 euros. The more advanced version with 512 gigabytes of storage is available for 1,369 euros.
The Galaxy S25 Edge's advantage is its thinness, measuring just 5.85 millimeters thick. But how did Samsung engineers manage to do this? According to a YouTube video by JerryRigEverything, Samsung used a thinner version of the ISOCELL HP2 sensor to shrink the phone's body to 5.8 mm thick. In addition, components such as the speakers, battery, cooling, motherboard, and USB-C connector have been reduced. The new design includes a reinforced titanium frame that now serves as a support for the USB-C connector, while water protection is built into the body at an angle.
The most noticeable change is the extremely slimmer base plate, which is significantly smaller than the one on the Galaxy S25 Ultra. The battery is also smaller, with the capacity dropping from 5,000 mAh to 3,900 mAh, which may disappoint users. However, Samsung is keeping the easily accessible plastic housing for battery replacement, which is a positive move.
In terms of cooling, the Snapdragon 8 Elite in the Edge model is placed directly on a vapor chamber with plenty of thermal paste, while the Ultra model has an additional metal part without thermal paste. According to expert JerryRigEverything, the changes are mostly positive, and the phone proved to be very durable in the bend test, which can be attributed to the reinforced titanium case.
