Windows 11 25H2 will be a quick, hassle-free update

Windows 11 25H2 will be a quick, hassle-free update

Microsoft recently officially confirmed that the new Windows 11 version 25H2 will be released this fall. It is already available as a preview version for Insider users. One of the main advantages of the new feature is that it uses the same underlying platform as version 24H2, which allows for an extremely fast and easy transition. Unlike the transition from version 23H2 to 24H2, which required replacing system files and more time, the upgrade from 24H2 to 25H2 will be fast, like a regular cumulative update. Of course, many will appreciate this.

Because 24H2 and 25H2 share the same platform, Microsoft can release the same security patches and upgrades for both versions. The new features for the 25H2 update are already in the code for 24H2, but they are currently disabled until they are ready for use. Microsoft has used a similar strategy with Windows 11 versions 22H2 and 23H2, and several times with Windows 10.

For Enterprise, 25H2 resets support to 36 months, and for Home and Pro users, it resets support to 24 months. Currently, the changelog for 25H2 is the same as 24H2, but exclusive features are expected in the coming weeks. The general release is expected to begin in September or October.

As support for Windows 10 nears its end, Microsoft is gradually rolling out Windows 11. It offers Windows 10 users one year of additional security updates for free (if they sync their settings to the cloud), but it's clear that it wants to transition to Windows 11, which is approaching 500 million users.
