Xiaomi Watch 5: The smartwatch of the future
Xiaomi has refreshed its wearable lineup with the Watch 5, which joins the new Xiaomi 17 Ultra smartphone and the exclusive Leica Leitzphone edition. The new watch targets a wide range of users, offering a variety of styles and materials. The basic model with a rubber strap is available for around 270 euros, while the version with eSIM support and a leather strap costs around 312 euros. For those who want something special, Xiaomi offers an optional 3D-printed titanium strap, which costs around 104 euros.
Visually, the watch offers four color combinations, including black and silver case colors, complemented by blue or brown leather straps and green or black rubber accessories. A special emphasis is placed on 3D-printed titanium, which combines extremely low weight with high strength, giving the watch a prestigious look and long-lasting durability.
The technical specifications are impressive. The 47 mm watch boasts a 3.91 cm (1.54 inch) AMOLED display with a resolution of 480 x 480 pixels. The display is characterized by its brightness, which reaches up to 1,500 nits, which ensures excellent readability even in direct sunlight. The heart of the device is the Qualcomm W5 chipset, which, combined with a 930 mAh battery, promises up to 6 days of autonomy in high performance mode.
The biggest innovation, however, lies in the sensors. In addition to the standard ECG, there is an EMG (electromyography) sensor built in, which monitors the muscle activity of the hand. This enables unique gesture control; with certain finger movements or clenching of the fist, the user can answer calls, silence alarms or even launch the camera on the connected phone. The device runs on the Hyper OS 3 system, is waterproof up to 5 ATM and accurately measures heart rate and blood oxygen. The novelty is likely to be introduced in Europe in March 2026.
