Google recently detailed the updates coming to the revamped media player in Google Android Auto. One of the most notable changes is the expansion of audio controls to apps that don't have their own custom interface for car screens. This allows drivers to control audio content playing in the background on their phone or within a web browser directly from the in-car display.

In addition to expanding support for audio sources, the player's graphics have also been updated. The playback screen has been visually refreshed, with the title image or audio content graphics now adapting much better to the various dimensions and shapes of car screens. For greater safety and ease of use while driving, the developers have moved some of the most frequently used command buttons from the side menu with three dots directly to the main screen.

The stability of the operation itself has also undergone changes. Google has also eliminated some inconveniences and shortcomings that occurred when automatically starting playback when a smartphone is connected to the vehicle. The renewed player is already available in established music streaming applications such as Spotify and YouTube Music. Users can check the currently installed version in the settings of their smartphone under the Android Auto section or at the very bottom of the settings within the application.
