Uber now also on Slovenian roads

Uber now also on Slovenian roads

Starting today, Uber is available in Ljubljana through strategic partnerships with established local carriers. This initiative brings improved mobility options for residents and visitors and creates new economic opportunities for local drivers.

This collaborative approach places Slovenia among the leading European markets where Uber is actively joining forces with existing taxi and ride-hailing services. Ljubljana is the first city in the country where residents will be able to order a taxi through the Uber app.

"The City of Ljubljana welcomes Uber to our vibrant community. We are committed to fostering innovation and providing diverse and sustainable transportation options for our residents and visitors. We look forward to Uber's contribution to the development of mobility in our city, as we believe its presence will bring greater convenience for everyone. We are ready to work together to ensure that this integration benefits everyone who lives in or visits Ljubljana," he emphasized Boštjan Koritnik, Deputy Mayor of the Municipality of Ljubljana.

Leveraging Uber’s advanced technology, the platform now efficiently connects passengers with available licensed drivers. This will reduce wait times for users and increase efficiency for drivers.

"We are excited to introduce the Uber platform to Slovenia. By collaborating with local taxi drivers, we are creating a transportation ecosystem that benefits everyone. We offer reliable and convenient options for passengers and new opportunities for drivers," she said Morena Šimatić, Uber director for Slovenia and Croatia and added: "We are committed to becoming a valuable partner in the Slovenian mobile network."

Uber's app has already attracted a lot of interest in Slovenia. In Ljubljana, more than 150,000 users opened the app in 2024, indicating strong local demand for Uber services. Users are looking for convenient booking through the app, transparent pricing, cashless payments, and reliable real-time tracking.

How it works: Starting today, users in Ljubljana can open the Uber app and request their first ride. After entering their destination, the app will show them an approximate price and connect them with a driver who is available to accept the ride. Passengers will then be transported to their chosen location in a partner vehicle, paying the amount determined by the taximeter. After each ride, both passengers and drivers will have the opportunity to rate each other, fostering a community based on respect and responsibility. Passengers will also be able to offer their drivers praise or tips through the app.
