YouTube is testing a new Premium subscription designed for just two people

YouTube Premium has expanded in several ways in recent years, including adding plans for families and students. A new YouTube Premium plan for two people has been launched in select regions, which is cheaper than the five-person offering.
YouTube is testing a new Premium subscription designed for just two people

It looks like YouTube Premium will be adding a new “two-person” version in India, France, Taiwan, and Hong Kong. This could expand to other regions if the feature is successful and the company wants to offer it to a wider audience. The package will allow two users in the same family to access YouTube Premium at a lower price than if the two subscriptions were separate.

Judging by the price list in India, we can roughly calculate the price in Europe. It would probably be around 15 euros per month. This is still cheaper than if two people bought individual YouTube Premium packages.

This also pays off for YouTube Music users, as it's not just a Premium Lite plan. Premium Lite was launched a few months ago and offers YouTube Premium to users who don't want a bundled music subscription. It's not yet known whether Google will add family plans to Premium Lite.

Google is looking to expand its subscription offerings for users. With more people watching content on TVs than on mobile devices, the company is considering a greater focus on streaming services like Netflix. The new YouTube Premium plan for two people makes it easier for users to find the right plan.

It's not known when the two-person option will be available in more regions and to a wider range of users. It may take some time, as YouTube Premium Lite was also in the works for several years before it was unveiled to the public.
