For anyone who spends a lot of time commuting to work every day, the idea of doing it in a few minutes is priceless. Can you imagine? No traffic jams, no train delays, no more cold at bus stops - what could be better? About 100 companies that are engaged in the development of eVTOL (electric vertical take-off-and-landing) vehicles promise us all this.

It seems that Airbus' flying taxis will soon be able to transport their first passengers. Its engineers, in collaboration with a number of companies in this field, have prepared a very interesting prototype of a flying electric vehicle, which represents serious competition in this segment. The CityAirbus NextGen flying vehicle is very quiet during operation, producing only 70 decibels of noise during takeoff, and even less during flight – only 65 decibels, which is quite an impressive achievement.

The Airbus CityAirbus NextGen flying vehicle has a flight autonomy of up to 80 kilometers, and the maximum travel speed is 120 kilometers per hour. The novelty was designed for use in city centers, namely it can provide easy passenger transport or, for example, rapid medical services. Soon, these interesting flying electric vehicles should be tested in practice near us, namely in neighboring Italy. Airbus CityAirbus NextGen will also be tested in Germany, Japan, Norway and many Latin American countries in the next few months.

Although the technology is ready, it is not yet known when the CityAirbus NextGen flying vehicle will become a part of our everyday lives. The production costs of such vehicles are still very high. This means that the use of electric flying vehicles for passengers will also be quite expensive and limited – at least initially.
