Which female engineer will be in 2024? Applications are open.

The tender is open for female engineer in 2024. For the seventh time in a row, female engineers from Slovenian companies, organizations and other associations will present themselves to the public, who can be the best example and inspiration for young girls, so that they can more easily choose technical professions. Applications are possible until September 22.

By selecting the Engineer of the Year, the organizers are addressing the problem of the invisibility of female engineers in society and building a community of Slovenian female engineers. This year, individuals, female engineers, companies, organizations and associations can also nominate their candidate for the Engineer of the Year 2024. via the form on the website Applications are open until Sunday, September 22nd.

The focus of the selection is the potential of female engineers to inspire younger generations

The focus of the Female Engineer of the Year award is not on the engineering achievements of individual women, but on their potential as engineers to serve as role models and inspiration to younger generations of girls. The award also considers the contribution of female engineers to the development of technology and the progress of the economy and society as a whole. 

The purpose is the broadest and most effective social promotion of female engineers who can encourage, inspire and encourage young people with their personality and work to decide to enroll in engineering studies and an engineering career.

»Engineering careers can be really beautiful, full of challenges and personal growth. I wish every girl who is interested in engineering to have the possibility and the opportunity to learn what engineering can give her and she and society with it. Among the registered candidates, the commission will select ten representatives of the seventh generation of Slovenian female engineers, who will be presented to the public for the first time on November 20, and the female engineer of 2024 will be announced on January 16, 2025 at a celebratory event.

The selection, which was created at the initiative of Siemens Slovenia, is part of the initiative We will be engineers!It is co-organized by IRT3000 magazine and Mediade with participating partners. The selection of the Engineer of the Year will also take place in Croatia and Serbia from 2023.
