Sora for Android has driven users crazy!

Sora for Android has driven users crazy!

Sora, developed by OpenAI, has been a huge success since its debut on Android. According to analytics firm Appfigures, the app was downloaded 470,000 times on its first day, a 327 percent increase from its launch on iOS, where it saw around 110,000 downloads.

The difference in numbers is expected, as the iOS version was limited to the US and Canada and accessible only by invitation, while the Android version is available in the US, Canada, Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Thailand, and Vietnam, without the need for an invitation.

Despite its initial exclusivity, Sora quickly became a hit. It surpassed one million downloads on iOS in its first week and climbed to the top of the free app charts. It currently remains at number 4 in the US.

Sora allows users to create videos using artificial intelligence, where they can include themselves and friends as animated characters through the Cameos feature. The content is displayed in a vertical style, similar to TikTok.

Appfigures also revised its initial estimate for iOS downloads: from an original 56,000 to an actual 110,000, of which 69,300 were in the U.S. On Android, there were 296,000 downloads from the U.S., indicating continued interest in the app, even after the initial hype.

Sora now competes directly with Meta AI, which launched its mobile app in Europe today, following a preliminary launch in the US.
