Chinese tech giant Lenovo has refreshed its premium laptop family and launched the Legion Y9000P “Extreme Edition”. The biggest upgrade over its predecessor is its super-powerful processor. Engineers have installed the recently released Intel Core Ultra 9 290HX Plus processor in it. While tests of this component in other devices, such as the Alienware 16, show noticeable but not revolutionary jumps in performance, Lenovo claims that the processor in their case can reach a power consumption of up to 165 W.

Graphics power is provided by the top-of-the-line Nvidia RTX 5090 mobile graphics card with 24 GB of memory, which can develop up to 175 W of power. For customers who do not need the very top of the range, a configuration with an Nvidia RTX 5070 Ti graphics card is also available, with the central processor remaining unchanged. To tame these two extremely wasteful components and ensure stable operation under full load, Lenovo has installed a cooling system with three fans, which can dissipate up to 285 W of heat.

The visual experience is enhanced by a 40.64 cm (16-inch) OLED display. It features a resolution of 2,560 x 1,600 pixels, a 16:10 aspect ratio and a refresh rate of 240 Hz. The display reaches an impressive peak brightness of 1,100 nits and provides 100% coverage of the DCI-P3 color space.

The exterior of the laptop is adorned with RGB lighting elements located on the rear exhaust, front bottom and back of the chassis. The device offers a wide range of ports, state-of-the-art WiFi 7 connectivity, up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory and the distinctive TrueStrike keyboard.

The entry-level version with RTX 5070 Ti graphics is sold in the Chinese market at a starting price of EUR 2,825. The more powerful version with RTX 5090 is available from EUR 5,112. In global markets, the release of this laptop is expected under the recognizable name Legion 7i Pro.
