The world's best-selling Android phone is Samsung, while Apple takes the top three spots with iPhones
Apple continues to dominate the global smartphone market, according to data from analyst firm Counterpoint Research. The iPhone 16 was the world's best-selling smartphone in the second quarter of 2025 (April to June of this year), continuing its success in the first quarter. The iPhone 16 Pro Max and iPhone 16 Pro remain in second and third place, despite their high price.
Among Android devices, the Samsung Galaxy A16 5G achieved the highest sales. A favorable price, a solid Exynos 1330 processor and the promise of six major Android updates proved to be a winning combination. The Galaxy A06 4G smartphone is in fourth place, followed by the iPhone 16e.
The only Android flagship in the top ten is the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra. The Xiaomi Redmi 14C 4G is also among the best, as the only device not from Apple or Samsung. The Xiaomi Redmi 14C 4G is popular mainly in Latin America, the Middle East and Africa due to its low price.
The iPhone 16e smartphone largely replaced the iPhone 15. Despite being newer and faster (with the Apple A18 ARM chip), it was often available at a lower price. However, buyers had to accept some compromises, such as the absence of an ultra-wide camera and MagSafe technology.
