Affordable Xiaomi gaming phone with active cooling

Xiaomi has revealed the specifications of the Redmi K90 Ultra ahead of its official launch. The main strategy of this model is to offer an uncompromising gaming experience at a much lower price than the most expensive premium phones on the market today.

To achieve an attractive final price, they installed a Snapdragon 8 Elite processor. Although it is a previous-generation chip, it is still more than powerful enough to smoothly run the most demanding native Android games and advanced emulation of newer console and Windows games. Xiaomi has combined this processing power with an active cooling fan, which is the same as the one in the more expensive K90 Max model. According to the company, this cooling system for 6 % is larger than the solutions used by competitors, while at the same time operating extremely quietly, with the noise level reaching only around 32 dB.

Another important advantage of the device is the dedicated graphics chip labeled D2. According to the manufacturer, this hardware will provide a noticeable improvement in the gaming experience. The novelty brings special optimizations for network connection stability, touchscreen responsiveness and sound quality.

Although Xiaomi did not directly reveal the exact specifications of the display itself in the official announcement, the promotional materials pointed out that the phone can run popular MOBA-type fighting games at a smooth 144 frames per second (FPS). This clearly suggests that the built-in matrix will support a high refresh rate of 144 Hz.

In terms of appearance, as revealed in promotional photos, the newcomer is almost identical to the aforementioned K90 Max. The only noticeable design difference is the slightly modified ventilation holes on the back of the case, which allow for airflow.

Since it's a device with built-in mechanical air vents, there are already questions online about its long-term resistance to dust and fine particles. Dust is a common problem with phones with active cooling. Xiaomi is expected to share the remaining details with the public shortly before the official Chinese launch, which will take place on June 30.
