The new Unitree H2-X lifts cars and jumps from heights
Unitree has introduced the H2-X Kung Fu Legend Guardian humanoid robot, which it does not advertise as an assistant for work in factories or homes, but as a platform for security, intervention and rescue tasks. In the promotional video, the robot demonstrates exceptional agility, martial arts and physical strength, which are more reminiscent of scenes from action movies than classic industrial robots.
During the demonstration, the robot punches a car's body, performs various kicks, jumps and acrobatics, and lands on its feet without any problems after jumping from a platform approximately four meters high. In simulated scenarios, it stands between an armed attacker and a woman, repels the attacker, lifts the front of the vehicle in a rescue exercise, and in another scene pushes a child out of the direction of an oncoming car. With this, the company wants to demonstrate the potential use of the robot in crisis situations, where quick reaction and physical strength are crucial.
Despite the impressive scenes, a considerable amount of caution should be maintained. Unitree did not disclose how much of the demonstrated abilities are based on full autonomy, how many movements are pre-programmed, and to what extent the robot is controlled remotely. The statement about eight hours of autonomy also refers primarily to the standby state and not to the continuous performance of physically demanding tasks.
Detailed technical specifications and pricing for the H2-X have not yet been announced, but if the demonstrated capabilities can be transferred to real-world conditions, it could be one of the most interesting humanoid robots in the emerging segment of physical artificial intelligence.
