Lenovo keyboards and mice that charge themselves
At the upcoming CES 2026, Lenovo will not only unveil new computers, but also a range of innovative peripherals. Among them will be the Lenovo Self-Charging Kit, a keyboard and mouse set that may never need to be plugged in.
The kit uses advanced light-harvesting technology that draws power not only from sunlight but also from indoor lighting. Surprisingly, it can operate at just 50 lux, which is significantly less than the 200-500 lux required by small solar panels in calculators. This means the devices can remain powered in offices, classrooms, or even dimly lit living rooms.
The keyboard is said to have solar panels above the arrow keys, while the mouse has less noticeable light-gathering elements. In addition, Lenovo will showcase the Adaptable Keyboard concept, which uses optical actuation to adjust the feel of the keys. The keyboard also has indicators for Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and battery status.
Finally, Lenovo will introduce the 900 Wireless Low-Profile Mechanical Keyboard and Mouse, which is not a concept but an actual product. It features a translucent design in Thunder Gray and Cloud Gray, uses Lenovo's 4-point switch for a better typing feel, and supports multi-device connectivity via 2.4G receiver or dual Bluetooth.
