AMD with new X3D processors
At Computex 2026, AMD officially unveiled two 8-core processors featuring its signature 3D V-Cache technology. The new products are aimed at gamers who want the best possible gaming performance. The first is the all-new Ryzen 7 7700X3D, based on the established Zen 4 architecture. The second processor is the return of the legendary and extremely popular Ryzen 7 5800X3D, which launched the gaming chip series.
With the re-release of the Ryzen 7 5800X3D processor in a special “10th Anniversary Edition” version, AMD is celebrating a full decade of the existence of the extremely durable AM4 platform. Given the current market conditions, where the prices of DDR5 system memory have skyrocketed, the manufacturer’s move is very well thought out. This processor offers 8 Zen 3 cores, 16 threads, a total of 100 MB of L2 and L3 cache and a maximum operating clock speed of up to 4.5 GHz. In games, it easily competes with the more modern 6-core Ryzen 5 9600X processor, which uses the latest Zen 5 architecture.
This anniversary edition will be available from June 25, 2026 at a suggested retail price of approximately €322, and will also come with a free Carbice Ice Pad. While this may seem high at first glance, especially considering that the 18-core competitor, the Core Ultra 5 250K Plus, costs less than €212 and offers the same gaming and significantly better performance, the price tag makes sense given that owners of existing AM4 systems don't have to buy a new motherboard and expensive DDR5 memory when upgrading.
At the same time, the Ryzen 7 7700X3D was also released, which acts as a slightly slowed down version of the hit Ryzen 7 7800X3D. The newcomer brings 8 Zen 4 cores, a total of 104 MB of cache and a maximum frequency of 4.5 GHz. For comparison: the more powerful 7800X3D model has the same number of cores and cache, but reaches a much higher clock speed of up to 5 GHz. Due to these features, the new Ryzen 7 7700X3D will offer a superior gaming experience and will be noticeably faster than the older 5800X3D model. AMD has set its price at approximately 304 euros, and it will be on sale on July 16.
