Kriptomat closes doors: users must transfer funds by the end of June
Kriptomat, one of the most recognizable Slovenian platforms for buying and selling cryptocurrencies, has informed its users about the next phase of its closure process. According to the closure plan, the company will permanently cease providing all regulated services on June 30, 2026, and users must take care of withdrawing or transferring their funds by then.
According to the company, June 30, 2026 will be the last day that transactions can be made through the platform. Users can transfer funds in euros to their bank account or transfer cryptocurrencies to an external wallet or another trading platform.
Invoices will be available for viewing only during the summer.
After the deadline, Kriptomat will keep user accounts accessible in “read-only” mode. Between July 1 and September 1, 2026, users will no longer be able to make transactions, but they will still be able to access their account information.
After September 1, 2026, access to the platform will be completely terminated. Any funds remaining in the accounts will be handled individually, according to the company, in cooperation with the winding-up manager and support team, in accordance with applicable law and regulatory requirements.
Kraken as a recommended alternative
Kriptomat recommends users to switch to the Kraken platform as the main alternative. The company describes it as a trusted and regulated platform, in line with the European framework MiCA (Markets in Crypto-Assets Regulation). We also had some funds on Kriptomat and can confirm that the transfer to Kraken is easy. At least in our case, it was not instant, as the transfer – before the funds were visible on Kraken – took over an hour.
Users are advised to open an account with Kraken with the same email address they use with Kriptomat, as this allows access to a special promotional offer and a simplified transfer process.
Kriptomat urges users not to delay arranging the transfer of funds until the last few days before the deadline, as they want to ensure the smoothest possible completion of the platform's operations.
