A sports smartwatch with offline maps for less than 90 euros

A new player has emerged in the wearables market that promises a surprisingly high price tag. The Cubot GT5 is a sporty smartwatch that, at a price of around 89 euros, is aimed at users who want premium features without the high cost.

One of the most outstanding features of this watch is definitely the support for offline maps. This feature, usually found in much more expensive models, combined with the GNSS module allows for almost complete independence from the smartphone. The navigation system supports dual-frequency operation and connects to five different satellite systems, ensuring accuracy in tracking the route. Users will even receive a notification if they deviate from the planned route during an activity.

For nature lovers and hikers, Cubot has built in an electronic altimeter and barometer. The latter can alert the user to sudden changes in air pressure, which serves as an indicator of possible weather deterioration. All information is displayed on a bright 3.63 cm (1.43-inch) AMOLED display. The device's case is designed to withstand pressure up to 5 ATM, which means the watch is also suitable for water activities.

In terms of health, the GT5 uses optical sensors to measure heart rate and heart rate variability, although the accuracy of these measurements will only be revealed in real-world testing. The watch also has 256MB of internal memory for storing music, which can be played directly to wireless headphones.

The battery promises solid autonomy: up to 12 days in normal use and up to 30 days in ultra power saving mode. Although the Cubot GT5 seems like a great bargain, the manufacturer also mentions the Amazfit Active 2 model as an alternative in a similar price range.
