Here are Google's picks for the best Android apps of 2024

A combination of free and paid apps, among which there are certain ones that surprised us with their ranking.
Here are Google's picks for the best Android apps of 2024

Google has crowned the best apps of 2024 – Android apps they believe are the best the Play Store has to offer. The list includes apps from a variety of fields, including three streaming services, tools for finding new friends, and health management services.

Let's take a look at the winning apps.

1. Best app: Partiful

Partiful, as the name suggests, is “the ultimate tool for creating, managing and sharing events”. The app can be used to send invitations, create entire event pages, and guests can communicate through the app, send photos, and much more. Additional tools allow you to send survey questions, collect financial contributions for the organization, and Partiful seems to be a really good “one-stop shop” for all party organizers. The bad news is that Partiful is not available in Slovenia for now.

2. Best multi-device app: Max

Google seems to be excited about The Penguin series, as the streaming service Max won the award for best app for various devices. Many would probably argue that Netflix is number 1 on the market, but the fact is that the best Max movies and series are really great.

3. Best App for Personal Growth: UpStudy – Camera Math Solver

AI tools are already capable of scanning mathematical equations and solving them. This may help us complete our homework in no time, but it won't help us understand the subject any better than before. This is where AI comes in. UpStudyInstead of a final solution, UpStudy offers a step-by-step explanation of the problem, which helps with actual understanding. It's not just about math, though; UpStudy also covers chemistry, physics, and biology.

4. Best app for entertainment: Mila by Camilla Lorentzen

A workout app that offers a variety of HIIT, cardio, yoga workouts, as well as strength-building options and more. If you might be having trouble staying motivated when using other apps, try this one, but maybe Mila by Camilly Lorentzen is right for you.

The only thing to note is that you'll need to pay for the 7-day free trial if you want to continue using Milo after that, with a subscription costing $9.99 / £7.99 / €9.56 per month or $99.99 / £79.99 / €95.69 per year.

5. Best Everyday App: MacroFactor – Macro Tracker

Tracking calories and nutrition in general, when we want to gain muscle mass, for example, can be a challenge. MacroFactor aims to make this challenge easier for users with simple food scanning, weekly reports, and a unique “coaching algorithm” that apparently adapts to an individual’s metabolism and creates a personalized macro program.

Like Mila above, this tool offers a short free trial after which it is a paid service for 11.99 $ / £9.49 / €11.35 per month or 71.99 $ / £71.99 / €86.11 per year.

6. Best “secret” app: Timeleft

Timeleft seems like an interesting app for those who are new to a place and want to meet people, or for those who simply want new company wherever they are. The app works by randomly selecting six people to meet for dinner at a randomly selected restaurant every Wednesday at 8pm. Each user of the Timeleft app first fills out a personality questionnaire, based on which the algorithm selects a group of people who are supposed to get along with each other.

Before dinner, each member of the group receives some information about the others, and Timeleft prepares some “ice breakers” to help start the conversation. After dinner, each member of the group can rate the other guests and communicate with them directly 1 on 1 if they want to continue getting to know each other.

It is important to point out that the Timeleft app is not available everywhere, but it is even more important that users are aware that they cannot choose the restaurant themselves. So all those who are picky know how to have a challenge.

7. Best Big Screen App: Infinite Painter

Whether you have a tablet or a foldable phone – say the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or the Google Pixel 9 Pro Fold – Google believes the best app you can download is Infinite Paper. A robust tool for all digital artists.

The online portal Tech Radar also ranked the application among the best drawing applications this year, which further confirms the quality of the tool. It offers a free and a paid option, so you can check out how it works before you decide to subscribe.

8. Best Clock App: Baby Daybook – Newborn Tracker

An app for all new parents. If keeping track of your little one's schedule is a headache for you - when they sleep, play, eat, and everything else they need - the Baby Daybook app is advertised as the best "tracker" for this purpose. Most users opt for the free version, but if you purchase a premium subscription, you unlock useful tools, such as the ability to share the schedule with other users.

9. Best Google TV App: Peacock TV: Stream TV & Movies

Another streaming service on the list. In the flood of competition, we very quickly overlook an otherwise quality option, such as Peacock TV. Among the more famous titles that viewers can get from this provider are the series Hysteria, the thriller Found, and we also find NBC classics such as Parks and Recreation, Ted and The Traitors.

10. Best in-car app: PBS KIDS Video

The last app on the list and also the last streaming service. This educational platform is full of PBS content for kids. Among other things, it contains over 600 full episodes that users can watch anywhere and anytime. Episodes can also be downloaded to devices and viewed without an internet connection. Among the most popular shows are Sesame Street and Curious George.

Unfortunately, the application is not available in Slovenia.
